MathExpedition » — Privacy Policy

Effective August 15, 2026

This policy explains how Math Expedition ("the app") handles your information. The short version: we never ask who you are. There is no account, no sign-in, and no name or email. The app does send anonymous usage statistics and shows ads, and this page explains exactly what that involves.

Analytics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how people play, so we can improve it. This is anonymous usage data — for example, which game mode was played, the score and accuracy of a round, whether a Learn lesson was passed, and which screens were opened.

It never includes your name, email, Game Center nickname, or the answers you type. Alongside these events, Google collects standard technical information such as a device identifier, device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate country derived from your IP address.

Analytics data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Advertising

The app shows ads through Google AdMob, which is what keeps it free. To serve ads, Google collects device information including an advertising identifier, and records which ads were shown.

Personalized ads and your choice. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, Google may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show ads matched to your interests, including based on your activity in other apps. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized in this way. You can change your mind at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking on your device.

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the app shows a consent form the first time you open it, asking how your data may be used for advertising. You can reopen that form at any time from the Privacy options item in the app's Settings screen.

How Google uses this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Game Center

If you sign in to Game Center, scores from the Weekly Challenge and the mini-games are submitted to Apple's leaderboards so you can compare your rank with other players. This is handled entirely by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. We never receive your Game Center nickname or player ID, and we do not share it with Google or anyone else. Game Center is optional — the app works fully without it.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app may remind you to come back and practise. These reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification data leaves your phone, and you can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.

What we collect, in summary
